Cold, callous and indifferent...they don't start off that way, but end up that way after a while.
They say one thing on air, and in commercials...'Speak up' 'Talk', 'Protect your community, the cops are on your side'..
But that's not always the case.
Most cops just assume all people in the hood are bad, and just a matter of time before they'll end up in jail.
So when they respond to a call, it's as if they're like 'Ah hu, ye sure'.......ye sure you're the good guy/gal or guys/gals...how about I just take ya all to jail'...
You get the sense they think you're all bad, criminals ratting out or complaining about other criminals. Even cops give off obvious body signals, even though they themselves are trained to read them.
And this lack of interest by cops assigned to hood areas, to help the 'good' in the hood, is why many stop calling 911 for anything...is why a body can lay in the road till morning.
Many police officers just don't do their job properly, when responding to a citizen in the hood.
And that's cause they stop seeing a distinction between those who are good, and those who are up to no good.
I've seen cops operate in more up scale neighborhoods, and if one thing is out of order, one stranger (expecially a minority in a majority white community)...no one even has to call...the cop is on them, 'ID please, name, where do you live, what are you doing here' and so on.
But in the hood, you don't get that...someone practically has to be on top of you with a knife, before the cops reluctantly show any interest in responding.
I believe it's learned sentiment...I don't think any officer comes out of the academy with that attitude...I think it's one they learn from other Senior officers.
And Black, or Hispanic or female cops can be just as bad, or worse, cause they so want to prove to their fellow officers that they are more 'cop' than whatever their ethnicity is.
So in order to prove that, in front of white officers, they'll often act, behave, more brutally to suspect, just to prove 'See, I don't let racial identity stop me from being a cop first'...
Are there fair officers out there?, of course...but you never know who they are until they show up...
And they can't be identified by color or gender...it's just an induvisual thing...some decide early one they want to be fair to all...and do their job the same whether dispatched to the hood or Beverly Hills.
But most won't call the cops in the hood, cause many will show up, talk to you like you're dumb, do nothing, insult you, then leave...now the person who was seen talking to the cops becomes 'marked'...
It's sad...but it's reality...and that's all you get here...

If you're an attractive, stylish, fit female...you'll attract a hood bum to you...or many....
If you're an attractive, stylish, fit male...you'll attract a hood bum to you...or many....
It's like if you look to good for the environment you're in, everyone wants a piece of you, but in a bad way. In a 'I'm going to use you for my own interest' type of way.
It's never in a way that will uplift you, make you a better person, it's always in a exploitive way.
Again...hoods are different depending on what region you live in...but most have that 'slum' mentality to them.
That gutter mentality, that even if you can do better, many do not, particularly the males.
SE hoods are different than say NE hoods, which are much more 'ethnic'.
SE hoods are basically urban plantations....where people have never seen, or lived around, interacted with others not like them...even other 'blacks'...who are mixed, or lighter in skin tone.
Blacks in the SE are still very 'black'...literally...cause there's been no 'mixing'...do to segregation I guess. But it's not like that elsewhere.
The hoods in the SE are very 'bland'...very 'base'...the males dress very 'base'...no style or anything, just white tank tops and and baggy shorts, and short no frills hair cut.
No style to the hair or anything, just this base, dry, plain look...
Except for the ones with dreads, which have a bit more of a Caribean influence.
If you do look good and stylish, are have more of an exotic look to yourself, whether male or female...it's almost like you're resented by some or many.
As if you're expected to be as dry and bland, and have just as small view of yourself and range as those around you.
If you see yourself in a different, more liberated light, you're either exploited or resented...in the hood.
It's different in the professional community. In the professional community, you're expected to 'dress for success' and to stand out...but not really in the hood.
And I find that mentality gross.
I'm not saying it's a sin to be homogenous in style and thought, I just personally find it very boring, bland, and counter to personal growth. Same old dry rap music, same old tired urban apparel, same old tired mannerisms, same walk, same low self esteems, which harbor violence and rage towards others.
People almost guilt you for looking 'decent'...for relating to self, and self potential in a more positive way.
It's almost like 'Hey girl/man, don't you know you're suppose to be hood like me, how dare you see yourself in a different light'...
None one ever wants to talk about anything constructive, like engineering, math, accounting, business, future planning, different career paths...nothing...it's instead the same zombie type souls walking up and down the sidewalks, to and from the corner store (s).
There's just nothing positive to look at, particularly if you come from a different area and can contrast it. Many here, have nothing to contrast where they live with (accept on TV) and so think it's normal.
And maybe normal is a relative thing.
I'm just use to a more colorful, vibrant, progressive community...where everyone is about something, going somewhere, other than jail.
And yes, I know I could go down the blame route, blame society for isolating people like this years ago through economic segregation and all...but there still just comes a time when as a people, you have to grow the hell up...period...

And it's really not their fault I'm not use to them, or them to me...
I'm watching 'Mean Streets'...by Martin Scorses..
And I realize I'm just more comfortable around North Easterner's...Italians, ethnic Albanians...
Puerto Ricans...people with flair, and accent....I miss the colorful personalities..the comedy.
It's just totally lacking down here where I'm at, in the colonial SE...as if I've jumped back in time or something...Huckleberry fin or something....
None of the males have flair or real confidence.
I'm just not use to it, or the people...I wasn't raised here...so I will never get use to it.
My style is different than theirs...what I think is cool, is different from what they think is cool. It's just a clash of cultures I guess.
I need to be around ethnic Europeans... The only ethnicity down here in the hood is middle eastern convient store owners...and I'm not into Islam or any of that stuff...and they're distant.
I feel smothered down here. No one can carry an intelligent conversation...when you speak proper, they look at you odd...I guess you're suppose to speak like you have half a brain like many of the males down here do, in order to have 'cred'.
It's just not my world or vibe.
I would better fit in in Japan, than here.
I would fit in better in a rural farm community, than here...In Kansas, better than here...
Not sure how much longer I can hold out. Can't just up and leave though, unless you have income where you're going.
I miss different styles, different people...tired of seeing the same gutter dress worn every day by folks.
And every ones short...all the males are short and scronny...
Not big and healthy like NFL players, or tall like NBA athletes...in the hood, all the males are short and scronny from eating, being fed, so much junk food, microwave food, hood food...it stunts your growth.
Everyone will turn into a midget soon, in the hood, if they don't start eating better and quick going to McDonalds so much...or Burger King, eating all that fake artificial food.
Artificial food for an artificial culture.
I've never lived in a more bland community in my whole entire life...where everyones exactly the same, same music, same everything.
There is no diversity in the southern hood, just clones....
Or maybe I just need to move to a different part of the city...I don't know.
I just feel so isolated and alienated down here at times.
And again...it's not their fault.
Just like they would feel out of place living in places I enjoy.
It's like living in a villiage, where no mental growth has occurred for 50 years.
Where people make the same social mistakes over and over again, and never ever seem to learn. Just keep repeating the same social mistakes, ending up in jail, or on welfare...same habits, same mistakes over and over again.
That mindset just does not inspire me at all.
I see everyone else making progress, accept folks in the hood.
And after a while it just becomes ugly to look at....it's not cute, or funny, but ugly, when you see how devastating it is on peoples lives.
Oh what I would do to talk with someone from Philly right now, or Boston or New York or even Cleveland...just to hear a different tone.
Sometimes I just utterly fear these people, cause some can be so viscously cruel, socially cruel, if you're different.
No respect, no manners, nothing... Just throw, toss, trash right on the ground, right next to vehicle...no sense of environment, nothing.
Like hollow souls or something...no sense of activism, no cause, no passion, other than listening to rap, with no melody. Grown azz men listening to rap you should stop listening to by age 15.
Instead you have grown men listening to this crap. (I love ne rap, cause it has melody and harmony and is lyrical and deep).
Everything in the SE is bland, a carry over from the days when slaves weren't allowed to have an identity...that crap has been handed down, you can see it everywhere in behavior and style.
Accept for Louisiana...and a few other places. But crime and violence is not a culture...it's a sickness.
I don't know what to do...I pray to God that one day he can give me the means to just get out of here.
I'm sick of only seeing middle eastern shop owners, who have stores in the hood, who hide behind glass partisions...
Sick of them to...and how distant they are...how they never try to blend in, or mix into the community. They just get off work and vanish.
I'm just ranting...it's not hate...it's frustration...of not fitting in.
to be continued...

And then if you are nice, look decent, have flair, have money, everyone wants to take advantage of you, exploit you...and other odd things.
Instead of protecting that which is beautiful, they want to denigrate it.
I will never be comfortable, or feel at home living around certain types. Wild eyed disobedient youth, who were never taught manners or respect.
It's scary...very scary.
And for my own sanities sake, I may have to force myself to move soon, unless things change...unless I go across town and meet some people who actually know how to act right.
People who have their act together.
And you don't have to be rich to have your act together. In the past, even income poor people would carry themselves with class...
That's back when Fathers had a place in the home, unlike today where males in the hood are just used as breeders...they breed, then go off to jail, lady raises kids alone in the hood around pimps, and dealers and other low lifes...druggies ect.
Can I not go up to the store without someone always begging me for change?
Grown azz men always begging me for change...why!? Get your dm act together...
I don't understand this place...I don't understand the people.
Every single day is like Halloween here...every night is like Halloween...
And during the holidays...no decorations...the streets and homes are as dull and dry as the souls that occupy them...no xmas lights, no Halloween decorations...nothing but ugly dry SE rap music blarring from cars.
How did this happen?
Most just don't realize the effect southern segregation had on certain folks, until you move down, and actually live in the midst of it...and have something to compare it to.
Low self esteems...all the males have super low self esteems, which makes them violent. Low self esteem = no confidence = frustration and rage.
And that's the only way males know how to express themselves is through rage.
If you live in Oregon, don't complain...just be glad...it could be worse...
(oddly enough...this is post number 666 on whole forum...this is the six hundred and sixty six post...wow)

Life, living life, as a responsible person is tough, very tough...
Not a rich or wealthy person, but a responsible, law abiding citizen. It's not easy.
And if you're a parent, it's even harder.
And in the hood, to many males opt to go to Jail or prison...like a cop out or something...cause it's easier to go to jail or prison, where you're housed and fed, than it is to stay out of trouble, get an education, job, skill, and work day in and day out, taking care of wife and kids, or girlfriend and kid.
It takes a very strong man, person, to stay out of jail/prison, and actually deal with the highs and lows of every day life.
It doesn't really take much of anyone, to act up, and get locked up and thus allow the responsibility of raising your kids to fall on others, mother, girlfriend or wife.
Men who stay out of trouble, out of jail, prison...are the true hardcore warriors...and are the real ones holding down the fort...and such males who do so in the hood, don't get enough credit for keeping their heads together, in such tough times...
I don't think the unruly and loud, should be allowed to live around the civilized.
Case in point...I've lived in all types of neighborhoods, around all types of people, income levels, class levels, and colors.
And the loudest, most disruptive people to live around, by far, are urban youth who are allowed to roam complexes without the supervision of stern parents.
And where I stay they happen to be 'black' youth...very loud and disruptive at times.
Problem is is when they, complexes, neighborhoods, try to force inject non working section 8 single mothers, to live next door to working class couples or induvisuals.
It's totally unfair.
The disruptive types bring nothing positive or useful to the community, all they bring is noise. When everyone else is tired, wants to rest, after a hard full work week, they have to be tortured by the noises, and screams, and screeches of unruly, unsupervised youth.
On the other hand, I've lived in places where two parents are prevalent in the home...and these n-hoods, are much more quiet and civilized.
The youth behave more like civilized homo sapiens, rather than running around screaming like wild primates....
The youth of two parent households, are usually at home doing homework, working on some science project, involved in organized sports, going camping or hunting with 'dad'...learning how to cook with 'mom'...in the boyscouts/girlscouts, 4h club, volunteering, into school sports, ect.
They're developing their brains....
But in the hood, the youth run around wild, wild eyed, terrorizing everyone like wild primates or something...
I'm not exaggerating... I've compared the screams and shreaks of Zoo primates with those of some in the hood, and they sound very similar...
Social evolution is learned, taught, by ones environment.
I see with my own eyes why some get ahead, and others do not..(at least in this society where every ones given a fair shot).
I observe it starts early, in how parents mold their youth.
Making youth study, engage in constructive activities, vs in the hood where unsupervised, single parent youth are allowed to run wild developing more animalistic, brute traits, rather than developing the brain.
You can observe this in the hood...and possibly even in certain hill-billy communities as well.
Color, ethnicity, has nothing to do with it...it's all about training, and environment or lack of.
I write what I observe...don't really care how it sounds or is interpated...
I just simply write what I observe...

It's not a color thing...cause I can go to where working class 'blacks' live...middle class blacks, who have homes, cares, two parent households, or even divorced, but working professional, and it's worlds different than the hood.
So please don't think I'm cracking on people do to color, cause I'm not. But it just so happens that many who are disruptive, where I happen to stay now, do happen to be 'black'...or fall under that umbrella.
And you also observe that the same patterns of stupidity are handed down, same disruptive, counter productive behavior.
But it's more do to proximity, than color or genes.
In other words, if a group of people are isolated, never really interacting with others, than they simply replicate their own environment.
(Thus probably why some support or supported 'racial integration', as a way of allowing those 'in the hole' to learn other behavioral traits).
That maybe worked back in the 40's and 50's when people actually wanted to learn, to grow, to better self, to better community. But todays' hoods aren't like that. Todays' hoods, the mentality that runs through it, is more like 'counter culture'...
The males aren't aspiring to be successful business men or investors or electrical engineers, or pilots.
Instead you see, observe, crap like this...
What do you think this person has on their mind?, anything positive? Do they have a savings plan? And where will they be 5 years from now?
There are parts of the hood that are so utterly primitive...people just have no idea...
Like a totally upside down value system which yields upside down results.
