I was driving long distance this weekend, and was really annoyed at how rotten the radio stations were along the route.
It was Sunday, and no NFL games or broadcast, instead you'd hear obscure local high school or college off season games being broadcast instead.
AM radio is bissmal on the weekends, all you get is out door shows, or garden shows, or any other reject show that can't make it during prime time.
And during the week, all you get on AM is religious broadcast, sports, and or politics and of course Spanish stations.
Years ago, I remember driving and being able to pick up station on the AM dial from near around the world, or across State, or nation.
Now, it seems you have to be 500 feet away from station in order to get a signal.
AM signals just aren't strong anymore.
And FM, my gosh, who listens to FM?
Can't stand the cookie cutter pop format, all the announcers sound the same, commercials are the same, same plastic music, regardless of genre.
And a ton of annoying commercials to boot.
Nothing informative on FM anymore, no science shows, radio theater, nothing.
All you get is plastic sounding new country, R&B, classic rock ect.
It's just all so plastic.
Or you get the morning shows where they try to inject some personality with colorful acting hosts who try to make you laugh.
I just find it all very annoying and have no use for it anymore.
Radio, like TV, is not really a thinking persons mediam anymore.
Not sure where you can turn now to be intellectually stimulated anymore and not insulted by the ever dumbing down of radio programming.
