The simplest way to save money is to not spend it. And one way to not spend it is to not be so eager to cash your weekly check... You can't spend what you don't cash. Learn to live or budget bi-weekly instead of weekly, you'll be surprised how your spending habits will adjust. Also, even if single, give yourself an allowance, a cash allowance, stay away from ATM machines as much as possible, and stay away from using debt card also. All this and more I'll explain in the up coming posts...

Lately I've been wondering about the profitability of recycling. I've found myself wondering just how much money I throw out through the trash on a weekly or monthly basis. I remember recycling as a hobbit, walking around neighborhood collecting cans with sibling, trying to save up for something. But I also remember after laboring around neighborhood for hours, then taking cans to recycle center, only getting a few dollars, and even as a hobbit I felt jilted. Not sure if I'd fare much better now, taking a few bags of crushed cans and plastic to recycle center, not sure I'd walk out with much more than $5.00. Guess I won't know till I try. If I did that once a week, that would be $20 extra dollars a month or $240 a year. Or if I handed in $10.00 worth of recycles a week, that would be $480 a year. But unless you set aside recycle money, saved money wouldn't really be noticed. This may be worth trying, and can see how it could become addictive as being a competitive type, could see self wanting to up the anty every week. Could see self wanting to turn in up to $20.00 a day in recycled goods or more. Or even $10.00 a day would be around $60.00 a week or $2880.00 a year...now we're talking... That's like a part time job or a 1/6 type of job. Oh well, we'll see, I'll call recycle place on Monday and see how this is done.

The main way to save money as a low wage earner is simply not to eat.
I've said this for years now, and that is
If not for thy stomach I'd probably be a millionaire by now
Original sentiment, so if hear anywhere else, like most concepts, remember you heard it here in the zone first.
But anyways, ye, thy stomach is the bulk of our monthly expenses, followed by everything else.
I mean If I spend on clothing what I spend of food, I'd never have to wear the same shirt twice in a year and so on.
The problem with the working poor class is that most in that 'class' labor for a living and when one labors, one burns calories, which creates appetite.
I was off for 5 days, returned to work today, and suddenly appetite came back like a Lion cause I was working again, and physical labor type jobs require energy, or you start feeling drained and all.
Most people who labor for a living, drive trucks, construction, welders, shop work and more, can spend around 2-400 dollars a month just on junk food, at lunch time, and not even realize it.
Solution?
Pack a lunch...duh. Easier said than done, but things have to become a habit in life in order for it to work.
Not only that, but the chemicals in store bought foods, chips, sugary drinks, sweets and more, are addictive, is why even though many do pack lunches, still end up getting high dose of sodium (and other addictive chemicals) by still buying chips at lunch. (like crack cocaine of food).
Natural foods can seem boring and bland next to the stuff you can by in corner store while at lunch.
I've forced myself into the habit of making next days lunch as soon as I get in, it's the first thing I do, cause if I don't, after a few beers, this that, I won't feel like it.
Not only that but allows me to sleep in longer in morning, cause if wait till morning to prepare lunch, forget about it, you're usually to grogy to care.
Also, for years, to proud to shop at 'Dollar Stores', not anymore, maybe to lazy, but not to proud.
You'd be suprised how far 3-5 cans of $1 dollar tuna can go, or 1 dollar frozen this and that, or 1 dollar burritos or 1 dollar cans of chili, greens, this and that.
(The above mainly applies to people who are single and get zero Gov benefits what so ever)
When single and have no help from no one, you're your only life line, for once broke, you may as well be dead to people.
Sad but true, so don't allow self to go broke, cause the credit card companies you go broke for won't give a crap once you're actually broke, always take care of self first.
That's not 'evil', it's just survival.
It's not your fault that living expenses cost more than your ability to generate income for.
Gotta run, other things to do.

Was just going through checking account and noticed this
I noticed a $70 (-) in account, abbreviated of course, but was from pay pal...so went to pay pal and saw it was from a 'Word Press' blog I have...$70 dollars a month for a blog I don't make any money off of???...hell no!
Yearly, maybe, monthly, hell no!
So about to call this 1-877 number, if no answer, will cancel payments immediatly, cause I've learned there's no quicker way for large company to call 'you', than to simply cut off payments.
This is how I've been saving money all year is by finally waking up and cutting off all sorts of little payments like this, that do add up over the year...and this may be another one.
I mean for 70 dollars a month I'd rather have a Podcast channel, or a number of other things that would more benefit me.
I'm about to slice and dice wordpress...I work to hard for my money to give it away like this anymore.
It's one thing if prospering from Word Press, but I'm not...it's simply a recreational blog, not paying 70 a month for any recreational blog.
Time to do some clean up.

Truth is, social media, just isn't like what it use to be, the average person isn't allowed to accumilate views, followers, like the days of old before these social media giants realized how powerful it was for one individual to accumilate so many views, they don't allow that anymore, now you have to 'pay' to play, now if you want a million views, ect, 50,000 followers on twitter, ect, you have to 'pay' to get your stuff promoted...the game has changed....in the past it was just random and organic, today, do to greed, you have to pay in order for FB or twitter, ect, or even google, to allow your posts to be seen by others...greed makes people so so very ugly.

There's always ways to save
Rent goes up, what does one do?, look around at budget and see.
1. See if can negotiate lower auto insurance, open up one of the flyers always get in mail talking about 'you could save X amount on auto insurance if switch to us'. Maybe they're right, doesn't hurt to check...saving 40 or 50 bucks a month adds up.
2. Simply learn to eat less, eating food costs a lot of money (this mainly applies if single, or if not single than shop smarter) More food doesn't mean better nutrition, not even, one can eat less, but eat right, still feel full and be healthier.
There was a time I was probably spending 400 a month or so on food, not anymore, I've cut that price almost in half.
3. Buy smaller A/C unit, the small room sized one, or desk top one, instead of firing up central air and getting billed hundreds every month.
4. look for better, cheaper, monthly phone plan, and or better cheaper cable plan.
Sadly though, many cable companies have monopolies in areas and I know I simply use my cable company for high speed internet and nothing more...and about to get own modem soon to save on modem rental.
I mean yes it sucks to work full time and yet still live as if poor or broke, but t's the only way to really save money without working longer hours or getting second job where always tired and wore out all the time and soon stop taking care of self.
My spirit, inner spirit, means more to me than a larger pay check.
I'd rather be healthy, well rested and spirited, than to earn more money, be tired all the time and unhappy and grey.

Another way to save is to change your debt card number at least once a year, why?
Cause over the course of the year, even years, we all sign up for those '30 day trial' stuff, but then forget to cancel trial do to busy lives, but they don't forget to debt fee every month, so now you're paying for service or a site, membership, that you forget you're even a part of, and this stuff can add up.
Is why whenever I change card at least twice a year, I'm shocked at how many services I wasn't using come out of the shadows with a 'your payment did not go through' notification.
Even do the same with your paypal account if have one.
If business won't answer your call, cut their payment and remind them who's in charge, no one has a right to your money.
I had to do that with 'Go Daddy', and others, then and only then do they listen is when you cut of their source of payment.

You can save on electric bill by turning your fridge off at night. Especially if house already cold or cool, turn fridge off at night, the insulation will keep everything perfectly cool, then plug it in during the day, I've tried it a few times cause fridge is going bad, and the inside of fridge just as cool as if I had it plugged in.

Also, just got Xfinity bill reduced by about 40 dollars per month.
So that's an extra 480 I'll save per year, that's a big deal, that's an auto repair.
Plus I stopped drinking beer as of late, so that's about 200 a month, or so, that I'll be saving.

It's amazing how much money I save per month, week, just by changing my eating habits
I always say, if I didn't have a stomach, I'd be a millionaire by now, why?
Cause behind rent, our stomachs are our largest expense in life, on average, at least during healthy and growing years.
For years I was brainwashed to think I always had to have a fridge full of food, why?
Cause a fridge full of food was some kind of status symbol I guess.
Well me, I'm single, so why do I need a fridge or counters full of food when most of it rots anyways, as in veggies, fruits, and or opened and unfinished canned food or sauces.
So why buy it in bulk if most of it will just rot?
I felt I had to spend at least 80 dollars a week on groceries in the past, not anymore...why?
Cause I just don't do bulk food shopping anymore, why should I?
Now, instead, I'll go to late a 'Gate' ect, and order a 5 dollar mixed salad, and that salad will last me all day, I don't just sit and eat the whole thing at once, why should I?
A few bites here, a few bites there, and that's it, stomach feels full and I move on.
By changing my food shopping habits, I'm saving self hundreds of dollars per month.
Now if you, or one, has a family to feed other than yourself, forget about the above.
I mean you can still save money on food, without sacrificing quality, but that's for another post.
And fast food is a total waste of money, you can buy regular nutritional food that not only tastes better, but will last longer than fast food.

Update This is only advised if don't have any meat in fridge, if have meat in fridge, keep fridge on, as often it's just a few degrees that seperates the rapid growth of bacteria. But if all you have in fridge is like water, drinks, fruit, bread, ect, than no problem. But if have any meat in fridge, keep fridge on all the time unless going to cook and eat the meat the next day. And or place meat in freezer during the night when fridge off.

Was going to go to the grocery store, but instead will go up to the corner gas station store where will just buy a preprepared salad, sandwich, this or that item, and be done with it.
If I go to the grocery store I'll spend twice, maybe 3 times as much, just cause there's more stuff to chose from, but I don't need it.
My stomach can only down one meal at a time, so this idea that I must always buy 70 dollars worth of groceries at once, says who?
Nope, I just need a few small items, and I'll be just fine.
