I use to love photography...in fact I use to blog with my photos, the photos I took of self, and various enviornments often spawned creative thoughts and subject matters. But a lot has changed with technology over the last 5 years or so, not so much with cameras, but with cell phones. Where as before you needed a decent camera to take photos, and a decent camcorder, to shoot video, now it's all built into smart phones. And thanks to technology, the camera resolutions and video resolutions are as good, if not better, than that of cameras that cost the same. We live in an era now where people 'sneak' photos, rather than take photos, anymore. I mean whens the last time you've seen someone standing, taking a photo, with a regular hand held camera? Other than at the zoo or a them park. I myself don't mind a one purpose device, like a camera...but smart phones can do the same...and you can send photo off instantly, or uploaded it to your computer or photo editing site. It's all about convience, quickness, and ease of use. I'm kind of torn...I find myself looking for a new camera, but at the same time, when I see the prices I'm like 'why not just get a better smart phone with same capabilities?'... Not an easy choice to make, if you still like the big bulky feel of a camera in your hand, with zoom, self timer, and other features the smart phones don't have yet. Oh well, minds not made up yet..have more researching to do.

Another thing I favor about hand held cameras is 'the grip'...you can grip them better, which allows for more clever shots, speed shots, shots while driving or cycling, you can hang camera out window and take photo.
With smartphones, you have to use the push screen button, which means you need both hands on device, or phone could fall away.
I wonder when camera companies will fight back, and make a camera that's also a phone?
