I was originally totally against it, or at least the 'forced' part of it, being forced or penalized to pay for something you don't want or that others are using.
Today, however, I actually met a real live person, who has successfully enrolled in National Health Care or Insurance.
NHI or GHI.
They pulled out their card, showed me, showed me their coverage, and even the Doctor he was assigned to. (Doctors that are in the program).
And he told me that monthly payment is based on your income.
His monthly payment to NHI was $35.00...
Not bad, to only pay $35 dollars a month, and be insured against a whole calamity of things that could occur, that would wipe you out financially if you didn't have insurance.
But here's where I'm confused.
On the radio I kept hearing about health care costing $300.00 a month.
I need to do some research on my own, as well as ask this guy, when I see them again, why they aren't paying the $300.00 a month I heard in the Press.
I'm not sure what to think about his topic anymore, I mean I called Blue Shield once and their coverage started at around $350.00, for a single induvisual, that's a car payment.
All I know is this, unless one is wealthy, doesn't have to physically labor, then as you age, health becomes more of an issue.
Cause you're not young forever, and once you get sick, no one cares about you, particularly your employer, nor do talk radio hosts (whom are all mega millionaires).
But once sick, Sean Hannity isn't going to pay your bills, nor is Rush Limbaugh, or Herman Cain.
So what does one do?
Self survival is all that matters in the end, self survival even eventually trumps party ideology after a while.
Cause no one will take care of you but you.
I've never had health insurance on my own, but now I'm thinking about it a lot more cause I realize things 'just happen'...
Even to good decent people, things just happen, medical things, and when they do either you're prepared for it or you're not.
And there's nothing more humiliating than as your sick, or bleeding to death, or dying, hearing people stand over you discussing whether or not they can admit you cause you don't have proper insurance...
When in this situation, no one will help you, either you're covered or you're not, Hannity isn't going to help, Rush and Savage won't be their either...
Either you're covered, and will be treated, or you're not, and will be handed off from clinic to clinic like a piece of soulless meat, as others discuss you're payment options, as you're laying on stretcher bleeding to death.
Life is cruel, and old age and sickness is coming for everyone.
So on this thread I want to explore national health care with a bit of positive spin, rather than the negative spin I've given it in the past.
Much more to follow.
