News letter, News paper blog, News pamphlets, vs Twitter and other online social media
I've done both, and can honestly say that real print media gets you 'out there', gets your content 'out there', way more so than social media can and does, as an average unknown.
Take twitter for instance, where you may post the most amazing sentiment, share a wonderful idea, and yet get not a single re-tweet.
Where as in real life, if that sentiment is put on print, and you're handing it out to people, you'll get way more reads and responses.
And on print, can always put your web site where people on bus, in office waiting rooms, parks, offices, can then go to your website and view more.
Since I've done both, I can honestly say that's a much better way to build your brand, and that is to start in the 3D world first, build your 'rep', your presence around real live people first, then they're more apt to take what you say online more seriously.
Online only type expression works only if you're already a celebrity or athlete or famous. But if you're not already known, you'll never build anything significant online, you could type from now until you die, and nothing will ever come of it.
You might get or attract 5 or 6 loyal followers, but that's it, where as in real life, when you actually get out there, distribute your news letter, fax news rooms, politicians, your reach is a lot greater.
For some reason people just respond better to you when they actually know you're real, alive, and breathe.
When you're alive, and in their 'face' in real life, you take on more of a celebrity role to them, or rebel role.
And that's what people respond to, for some reason, as one who's tried both methods.
Is it more risky?, yes...cause now you're real to them...which means they can harrace you.
But again vunerability is what adds to the 'allure'...and if smart can turn that into commercial success.
Cause in the end it's all about income, being able to earn enough to not have to wind up living in a garbage can when you get older and tired.
Lets face it, no one wants to spend their older years living in a garbage can cause they have no income to pay rent or other bills.
And all I'm saying is social media, all it really does is waste your talent. People spend hours upon hours giving away their creative talent, and in the end, maybe 2 people notice.
Where as if you take that same talent and vibe to the streets, you get a much quicker, and real return for your time and efforts.
As such I myself will change stratigies, and will start developing several differently themed news letters for distribution.
But when you do this, you also must create online forums or websites to compliment your newsletter or mag.
The news letter you distribute on street simply generates interest in your online site.
Example: It's the same concept to why musical artist go on tour, they go on tour to generate interests in their albums...and this exact same concept applies to people who write, Authors ect.
You have to first generate interest in your brand, before your brand will matter to anyone, and that often times takes getting 'out there', on the streets, and mixing it up with folks, otherwise you can type forever online till Jesus returns, and only get 5 people to notice you or care about what you say.
