A large invasive species of rat, known as 'Nutria'... (cat, nutria, size comparison...the rat is bigger than the cat).... Anyways...this giant rat is eating up all the wetland grass in Louisiana, which helps protect against storm surges during hurricane season. These giants rats were originally brought up into the states, from South America, in the 1930's for their fur...but that never panned out, and now the rats have spread into the swamps and marshes and devouring the native plants that keep the soil from eroding... A young filmographer has set out to document the rat and the people who trap and manage the rat. Young film makers films the people of the Louisiana back countryI watched a part of the film and it got my interest...I like off the path type of culture, that of it which is left in America anyways. So thought I'd share it here with the few readers whom happen to stumble by. And because I like the young film maker and want to help them out so they can finish their project... Beware of the giant rats...
