What created the middle class in America?
If you listen to modern Tea Party or Talk radio/Fox News types, you would think 'hard work' and determination created the middle class in America.
But people have always worked hard, heck even the Slaves worked hard in fields for 400 years, yet none were propelled to middle class status.
Slaves worked hard, and so did many 'white' immigrants...
Early European immigrants worked hard to, worked their butts off, yet hard work along did not propel, or create the middle class.
So what exactly did create the middle class in America?
In the following posts we'll try to discover the origin of the middle class in America.
