Would European, Asian, Indian, Persian, Jewish slaves had been better choice for U.S.?
Looking at Americas current State, and or it's segregated racial past, and or the racism that still lies within the hearts of many, I often wonder if U.S. should have chosen slaves that better resembled Europeans, or lighter skinned peoples, rather than going out and finding the one peoples on the planet that look 180 degrees different than the American slave traders.
I kind of understand the rational behind it in that being 'black' was a natural branding, in other words because the slaves looked so oddly different than Europeans, or anyone else, it was hard, if not impossible to blend in anywhere outside of Africa.
Had the slaves been 'white' or more fair skinned, running away and blending in elsewhere would have been much easier...so in that sense I understand why they found dark skinned 'negroids' a convient way to brand all property.
But that aside, what, did they think slavery was going to last forever, or 1000 years?
They never thought long term down the road, like if or once slavery ended, how would all the millions of slaves fit back into society.
They never thought about that, and since the slaves were 'black' and had been ostracized for generations by so many, people would never let go of their belief that African slaves or former, in the Americas are inferior no matter what, as evident in that recent Oaklahoma Fraternal video rant.
Looking back I think Asians or other Europeans would of been a better choice of free labor...in that once slavery ended they could more easily blend back into society.
Even the Asians who came over to work on the railroads, look how good they're doing now, you never hear about Asian American civil rights issues.
I mean when the Chinese got done laying down the trans continental rail line, they just vanished socially, formed own communities, and prospered.
They prospered outside of the 'Racist white system' of the day, and now own some of the largest business districts within cities all across the land.
They thrived outside of the 'white' system rather than trying to gain acceptance within it.
But in all fairness, unlike African slaves, the Chinese workers still spoke native tongue, and still were allowed to have ties with people back home, so they were not stripped of their human dignity or language and cut off from fiscal resources back home, as the slaves were.
Sure they were treated poorly by white Americans back in the 1800's, but they still had their culture and ties to their home land, and could leave whenever they wanted, where as black slaves could not.
All ties with homeland, villages slaves had, were cut off, so slaves really had no where to return to, and instead were stripped of past, and recreated as nothing more than mindless labor machines, with no identity other than taught to be obedient to master, die for master, live for master and trust that master knows what's best for you.
