Is the feasibility of risking privacy and info on big 3 or 4 public free email servers still a good option?
I don't think so.
I mean I can't tell you the amount of email accounts I've been locked out of over the years, that have been mine, but cause you forget pass word, can't get signed back in.
Yahoo mail has got to be one of the worst at locking people out of their own accounts, with their circular directions instructions.
They send reset info to account you obviously can't sign into, so it does no good.
And no human will ever answer any number they leave.
I'm sure 1000's have been locked out of accounts over the years, and they just don't seem to give a dam or they would correct that flaw.
It's disheartening to go to help center and read all the cry's for help that go un answered, of people who have been locked out of their accounts, with personal info inside that you loose forever.
How could anyone really trust a email server like that anymore??
Where you may have banking stuff, names, contacts, pictures, bank statements, and more, that you can never have access to ever again simply cause of flawed security measures.
This is why I'm seriously considering going ahead and paying for own private email server, at least if you're paying for it, you see who charges your card, have some kind of line of accountability to trace if things go wrong.
And private servers way more likely to have business line with live person to help you.

And I'm sure there's others out there, just have to do research.
Yes Yahoo and Google mail are free and all, but at what price to your privacy?
Everything you do on Yahoo/Google ect is all connected, linked, their mission in life seems to connect you with people you don't want to be connected to, to embarrass you by connecting you to folks you'd rather not be connected to and so forth.
And Government seems to just go freely into their stuff to retrieve info.
These private sites are encrypted and use other privacy technology.
Just have to read up on which site offers you what you want.
This whole 'free is better' age of the internet is about over.
'Free' now just means you're vulnerable and likely to never get help should issue arrive.
