What happens when a loner outcasts meets up with another loner outcasts, go to dinner, drive around and rediscover what it's like to be young again, to trust again, to have a friend again?
Well that's what happened today.
I was dreading the encounter at first, cause as you know most loners just like being alone.
Most loners just don't like going out to dinner ect.
Most loners just like to live in the closet of life, and be left alone.
So 'dates', appointments to meet someone, are usually cancelled at last minute, cause most loners like being alone.
But this is one time I'm glad I didn't cancel our meeting.
They just wanted me to show them around a better part of town, and that I did.
It was fun, started off with them buying dinner, I only ordered a 'back yard garden'...as I don't eat a lot anymore.
This is the first time I've met this person in 'person'...but we've talked over the phone for probably a month now or longer.
In public we seem totally like opposites, but on the inside I think we both struggle with the same issues.
Although they're much more hardcore than I am.
I think.
I don't know.
And a bit older, but still basically from same generation.
Their parents were missionaries, but this person has since turned into a tattooed rebel, who's done time in prison, but now out, reformed, has job, and doing best they can.
Their parents were strict, so were mine.
They rebelled, so did I, but not to the extend they did.
We had fun this evening, as I showed them nicer area of city to live than where they currently are.
We had fun, no friction at all what so ever.
And they called me their friend.
Weird.
I'm weary of that title.
Cause I really haven't had a friend, a real friend, since high school, and or maybe 'Job Corps'...
I'm just going to enjoy rest of evening, and the memories that were created today.
A loner like me is just not really use to someone appreciating who I am, and them the same thing.
Not sure who touched who more.
They bought me dinner, I paid for their gas.
In a true friendship all things are equal.
So far so good.
Today was a good day.
But doesn't mean tomorrow will be.
