Tile floors are so much easier to maintain and so much more sanitary than carpets.
Once you live in a place with tile floors, or hardwood floors, it's very hard to phycologically go back to carpets, and here's why.
1. When you have tile floors, you daily have to sweep, cause you notice all the dust and particles that settle on the floor, even with minimal foot traffic...you can almost fill a dust pan daily...
This really opens your eyes to the fact that with carpet, the same amount of dust particles collect...but you don't notice it...and all it does is sink into, is absorbed by the carpet over days, weeks, months and years.
2. Spills and moisture
How many times does this occur...you spill stuff on the floor, you, your pets, your hobbits, whatever...spills occur...and with carpet, you can never fully get it all out...enibidably some of that spill is going to sink all the way through the carpet where it will dry out, and mold, and bacteria will feed off of it...all of this beneath your feet, where you sit, lay, roll, ect.
With tile or hardwood floors, spills are a breeze to wipe up and sanitize.
3. Insects and spiders can't hide as easily...
May as well throw mites, tics and fleas in this category as well...
Carpets are like miniature forests for all kinds of insects...why give them that environment...
With tile or hardwood floors...insects, rogue insects in your house or apt, are much easier to spot and deal with...and even capture and release outside, if that's your thing...
But with carpets, they can burrow and hide...or even travel beneath foam sub carpet layering...ants are good at this...
Some spiders are very small...like pin head sized...and make habitats in carpet.
Tile or hardwood floors just gives you an upper hand on carpet...
Anyways that's all for now...if I think of anymore reasons why I prefer tile/hardwood over carpet, I'll share later...
