Still thinking about Dodge Challenger, but think mind is made up, and it's 'no' Bottom line is I don't need it, well there's a lot of things we don't need, but the difference is cost. I don't need $250.00 payments for the next 3-4 years during these uncertain times, that would just add such a burden to my life, would make me once again a slave to the system. It's all about timing to, timing and mood, 10 years ago, would of jumped on it, now...not so much, older and wiser and less enthused about a lot of things. When I had other new car, it was fun at first, maybe for a few months, it was a Kia Soul, but after about 6 months it was just transportation that I had to pay on monthly, I use to hate those payments, they get old really quick. But here's the thing, I'm realizing if did save up $20-30 gran in cash, probably the last thing I'd want to do is blow it on a car, I'd rather get land or something. When you get older you start thinking differently, with a car, payments, you're a slave, means you have to work a certain amount of hours no matter what, you're a slave, and as you get older, body gets more tired, the idea of being a labor slave is very unappealing. I'd have to have 100,000 saved up to justify paying 30 gran for a new car. Or, or, if have a two income household, then ye, could justify making payments on a new car, but when married, there's really no one to impress with a hot rod, unless wife or spouse happens to be into hot rod cars, but most wives, seems after married for a while, try to make the man feel less cool than he really is, subtle put downs and all. But ye, no Dodge challenger for me, not this time around, but came close to it...but 'reason' has kicked in. I took a test ride today in a Dodge Challenger, bright red one, at a dealership. It was OK, I mean I didn't exactly hot rod it, it was OK, nothing overly impressive. Infact, on the inside it's easy to forget you're in a sports car, it just has a very big feel to it. Will I get it?...nah, payments would be from 4-5oo.oo dollars, nah, would rather get a used one for half that price. But still, I thought it cool to be able to test drive it anyways.

The people I see driving Dodge Challenger, how in the world can they afford 4-5 hundred a month payments? Either they're putting a gob of money down, like half or more, or, or, super good clean credit, or stealing the money, lying, who knows, but the people I see driving new Dodge Challengers, I know they can't be earning more than what I do, yet there they are in brand new sportscars.

Ye, I still can't justify that 500 dollar a month payment, 400, maybe, but even then it's more of a challenge just to see if you can get financed. But after the challenge, now you have payments for 5 years!
Can you imagine paying on a car for longer than when was in high school or college? I mean 3 years from now to still be making $450.00 payments on a car that's no longer new, would probably be messy on the inside, can you imagine that burden?
That's why I think most end up defaulting on their loans, is why so many newer model cars still have high mileage cause people bought cars they couldn't afford, and just default on payments and return the vehicle to dealership or bank.

In order for me to justify getting a car, I'd have to offset that payment, I'd have to prove to self I could offset that payment with another job, or income stream, or through saving more than I even do now, cause if not, I'd eventually possibly just end up broke.
I mean if checking account barely growing now, it sure most certainly wouldn't with 450 car payment coming out every month.

But then it's like do I even really care anymore? I mean soon I'll be to old to give a dam about anything, so it's like get cool car now while even care to, or just continue to live a frugile life, and still struggle and be a below average person.
I don't know. This is why I'm glad I stopped drinking, cause my drunk side would be telling me to get the car, any new car.

How the Dodge Challenger came to be Dude talks very fast...try keeping up with him if you can.. But the Challenger has always been something I've lusted after for years. I almost got one of these today, I changed my mind, I still want one, what I don't want is the payments. So, I think I did myself a favor by not going to the dealership where I know I would of left there in a new Dodge Challenger, cause they already had ran my credit.
I don't have the best credit, but car dealers don't really care, they want to sell cars, and lenders of car dealers already know many working class types don't have the greatest of credit.
But seriously, had I gotten that new Challenger, I would have been yoked with probably 450 dollar payments for the next 5 or more years, and with payments that high already, it's not like you can pay off early cause you're already stretched thin.
And you can't save money when have expenses like that, not as a working class person anyways.
Ye, I'd feel much cooler in a new Challenger, but today, at least, a cooler mind prevailed.

Nice out, but compelled to go no where, is why flirted with getting a new car, cause figured having a new car would compel me to get up and out of here and go enjoy the weather and sceneri.
Guess I could just rent a newer car on the weekend instead, maybe that would compel me to get up and out more.

I've just spent the last hour or so, searching out cars online that I might want to try to finance.
In reality I don't need a new or newer car, but do kind of crave one right now.
It's eating at me.
Right now I have a car but no payments, not sure why I'd want to complicate life with payments.
I need to chill.

We've all been brainwashed to think that financing is a gooooooooood thing, says who?
If I get a another vehicle, I want it to be mine, I have enough headache as it is without financing!
I mean even to finance a car, say put half down, and finance 5000 dollars, why?
That's still like 2-300 a week for 3 or 4 years, screw that!
That's 3-4 years of stress, and car will still break down, so now not only financing car, but still may have to take it to the shop, screw that.
If, when, I go to dealer, when I leave with car, I want it to be mine, even if broke, I want to know that at least I don't have auto payments.

If people would stop being so willing to finance, inflation or no inflation, prices would drop overnight on vehicles, but because 'the system' knows most people conditioned to think that financing is a good option, they jack the price, offer financing and thus complicate peoples lives with more BS.

I don't have the most thrilling life right now, but not trying to add stress to my life by financing, could give a crap about a bank!
Screw them and their credit score system and rating system and all, they can choke on it.
Cash or nothing, no dm bank is going to own me.

Which used car is on average, more reliable, a BMW or a Mercedes?
There's a lot of used Mercedes and BMW's out there now, and in this Biden/harris crazed used car market, some, including myself, may be wondering which used luxury car is more reliable?
According to this guys report, on average, Mercedes hold their age slightly better than BMW's.
But there's a lot of factors, usually BMW's are driven harder since usually purchased by younger cliental.
Anyways, guy in video explains it better than I can.

I think I need a used pick up truck. I'm seriously considering a used pick up truck over a newer nicer vehicle. Owning a used pick up truck won't make me look cool, but no one thinks I'm cool now, so what do I care. But what owning a older used pick up truck might do for me is give me a, or my sense of independence and confidence back. Why do I say that? Cause I use to own a full sized cargo van, and when had that van I was always confident cause the van had so many other uses other than transportation, with the van I could 1. Live in it if things got hard 2. Haul stuff 3. Form own business with it. But mainly hauling stuff, moving stuff, it just gave me a sense of independence and thus confidence to deal with life better. With a car all I can really do is drive self around, but if need to move something, have to depend on another or hire another. And having a pick up truck would encourage me to clear junk out of place and take down to flea market and sell. One can make decent side money selling junk at the flea market, and or picking up garbadge and selling it. So ye, this may be a major shift in my thinking here, I may actually get a pick up truck instead, and keep current paid off vehicle, cause as a single person you really do need two vehicles, why? Cause if one breaks down, you need that back up. I had two vehicles before, and well, again, it just boosted my confidence knowing if one broke down, there was another one hopefully waiting.

Auto Zone will check your 'check engine' light for free Auto Zone will diagnos your 'check engine' light for free. I just used their service, and yes, it's free, and saved me a ton of money by going to the mechanic when it was simply a 16 dollar sensor.
