Old Hostess Fruit Pie vs New Hostess Fruit Pie This review section would not be complete without starting off with the self proclaimed King and Queen of store bought pastries, and that of course would be the undisputed Champion of them all...Hostess. But wait, before comparisons made of other pastries vs Hostess, first one must compare 'Hostess vs Hostess', and I guess you could say the dividing line is when Hostess filed for bancruptsy in 2012 (I think for like the 2nd or 3rd time?.. money.cnn.com/2012/01/11/news/companies/hostess_bankruptcy/index.htm) There was the pre bankruptcy Heavy on the sugar, full of calories, will be dead by the age of 30 if keep eating these, Hostess line of products, and then you have what has emerged since, which is a more health conscious, millennial orientated brand of sweet products, packaging and all to reflect that. Hostess was really lagging behind, it's as if you still had men from the 1960's, back there churning out Ding Dong's, and Pies, and cup cakes and all, heavy in starch and sugars and everything that sure tasted good, but that once over a certain age, knew you could no longer eat if didn't want to visit the hospital. Well I'm here to say now that Hostess is 'Woke', or as woke as can be being in the sugary sweets industry. The other day I bought the new hostess pie in a box, knew I kind of shouldn't, but did, and the packaging had a lot to do with it. Comparison of old pie vs new pie 1. Old pie, had frosty, syrupy glaze to it, and pie was, looked, and felt as heavy as a brick, as if baked in that old white pig lard grease our grandparents used...Crisco lard. 2. New Pie, nothing like the old, felt light, and wasn't coated with heavy thick sugary film, it felt more like baked bread or light pie crust, and coated just right. 3. Old pie, when ate, your gut felt full, and old pie was so thick in sugar and grease you could practically feel it fall onto your stomach. 4. New pie, had very light pastry taste and texture to it, not overly sweet, but sweet enough to make you want more and not feel as if would have to visit emergency room afterwards. Bottom line, Hostess has come along way from how most of us, if older, remember their treats when we were younger and growing up, which was basically colored, melted sugar. In order for Hostess to survive in this new health conscious era, I do believe they've made the neccissary changes to once again become America's favorite brand of baked store bought pastries. Welcome back hostess, but and however, the competition is tighter now, as your competitors have learned from your past mistakes, and so out the gate, your competitors had an edge....but you Hostess, will forever have the 'heart' of most older folks who when younger and in school, had your treats in our lunch boxes. Much more pastry reviews to follow as time allows.

Coming soon, my review of Hershey's new triple layered chocolate pastry cake, I saw it in store first time ever yesterday and bought one, but haven't opened or tasted yet, but will tomorrow sometime and give taste and texture review. Hershey's is obviously, with this chocolate cake, trying to intrude onto Hostess's 'Ding Dong' territory. I need to do a side by side comparison, stay tuned for that battle of the cakes post coming soon.

You better not be diabetic or have any health issues you eat this thing, cause it's like the crack cocaine of sugary treats I'll tell you. It's more like the devil's food cake or something, or the viagra of chocolate cake treats. Don't consume it unless in a very chocolately sinful mood, cause the sugar in it will definitely knock you up or out....wow.

Ent'enmann's Cherry pie review OK, unlike the Hershey's heart attack cake above, this cherry pie here, oh so delicious, and, repeat and, low on the sugar, or at least taste that way. This pie here tastes like it was baked in some Norweigan (or however spelled), Norway village, where like Hobbits live or something. (During the cold war era, Russians, and Northern Europeans used very little sugar in their baked goods, cause sugar was so hard to come by) And this cherry cake here tastes like it was made in those areas. And the cover, looks like 'lips' to me even, very odd. If you're into health and low sugar, I think this is the cherry pie you should seek out and buy. This pie here gets a big thumbs up from me.

Updated review on Hostess cherry pie My first review of the 'new' hostess cherry pie was pretty good, I compared the old, brick weight, thick, seemingly backed in lard fat, and coated in sugar old pie with the more newer one I tried a few months ago. The newer one was 'light' tasting, and soft, like a true bakery would be from neighborhood shop. Well something happened since last review and todayNot just today but recently, seems now Hostess has reverted back to the old recipy, I cannot conform that, but can say the Cherry pie I had today, and over the last month, they no longer taste like the one based this original review on. Now they taste 'stale', again, heavy, and coated with that like 1980's or 70's, syrupy coat of flaked sugar. And the cherry filling tastes and is all 'gummy' now. The pie I ate today, just looked at the box and the box say 'best by 11/13/20, today is 12/3/20, that could explain it, old shelf life, that's probably it. Cause lately they haven't tasted as fresh as that first one I bought months ago. That being said, not sure what to say. I just know after today's pie, I don't want another one for a very long while. They're good when fresh, I guess, but not so good when shelf life expires.

New Challenger is the 7-Eleven Cherry Pie Old packaging, but just don't have the time to upload new packaging. This pie, wow, I tell you, dream like, so soft, the crust was so soft and not overly sweet. But what I've learned is the longer pies sit out out shelf, as in weeks or months over sell day, the harder and more stale the crust becomes...so maybe I just happen to by this pie early on...Let me check the due date......OK, due date says sell by 04/15/2021, so like barely made the due date. All that aside, wow, this pie, the way it tastes, will make you want to have sox.

Soft Croissant These things here just about 'take the cake' in as far is 'light and fluffy' yet sweet where it matters type of desert or sweet cake or whatever you want to call it. They're delicious, and can swallow it without feeling guilty, or feeling like you're going to get fat. Try one, you'll like it.

Cookies and Cream by Lindt Some cashier talked me into buying this bar a few weeks ago, it was on discount at one of those travel center places. If she hadn't prompted me to buy it, I never would have, but once I did buy it, got home and ate it, over a few days, I must say it was pretty darn good. Not super loaded in sugar, and just the right amount of cookie crunch to go with the white chocolate. Would I buy it again? Sure, why not, it passed my taste and light sugary snack test.

Hersheys cookies and cream Like the brand above this one in previous post, Hershey's cookies and cream also tastes pretty good to me, or 'white chocolate', tastes pretty good, it's an acquired taste I guess.

7 Eleven's Strawberry Cheescake pastry All I can say is 'wow'. I thought I'd be able to just eat half, and the other half later, nope, this thing is so good, soft, so 'just right', you won't be able to just eat half, you'll end up eating the whole thing, and then get fat...lol But it just tastes that darn good. I think 7 eleven has surpassed hostess when it comes to pastry pies.
