A very interesting book indeed, I'm about 80% done, but have learned much, actually the book just kind of confirms what I already suspected, and that is how deeply ingrained the Mafia was in every day life and commerce back from like the early 20's till around the late 90's, from music industry to Hollywood, to drugs, to gambling, you name it, the Mafia had their hands in and on it. But I've also learned other neat little historical things from reading this book, like today learned the term 'Rock n- Roll', was a term Afro Americans used in the 1920's, which meant soxual romance. The Kennedy's had connections with the Mob, so did many actors back then, singers, record labels and the list goes on, and of course Law Enforcement, Judges and so forth, their influence was everywhere. This is a good book, and if I finish it, it will be the first book I've read from cover to cover in years, maybe a decade or more. More notes and comments to follow as time allows.

John Boehner - On the House I haven't read many books in my adult life, but must say this is one I'm glad I purchased. When it was released over a year ago, I remember all the conservative yaks all condemning this book, particulalry Mark Levin, politics is ugly and will make you ugly. But me, I think differently and decided to buy the book anyways just to see what all the noise is about, and even though this guy was Speaker of the House for the GOP, you can't tell it by reading the book, in fact, to me, the book is more of an insight to a Norman Rockwell America of the past than the corporate owned brutal politics of the day. If this book is about politics, I certainly can't tell yet, for to me it's a book that could describe many of our lives in the past, growing up in middle town America and learning from those around us. It's an easy book to digest for me, very easy, cause he tells small simple stories I can relate to in my own past, even though if saw me, and him, you'd never guess we had anything in common, well we do, and that is a heart. This guy Joe Boehner also does a great job at giving insight into other, what the media would of considered 'bland', cultural icons, like the former President 'Ford', Most would consider Ford one of the most wooden Presidents of all time, but Joe B gives us a different insight into the man, and many others he crossed paths with. If this book is about politics, I certainly haven't gotten to that part yet, cause to me it's really just a collection of stories, events, that he lived in the past and showing us how it helped shaped who he became. ------------------------------------------------- Who gives a crap whether Mark Levin likes the man or not, or other media type conservatives who make millions by repeating 'All Republicans goooooooood, and every single Democrat baaaaaaaad'. (I got that from Michael Savage years ago) Just because one isn't a party hack, doesn't mean one can't be a decent person, don't ever let politics become your god or you'll lose your soul, and I'm glad Joe Boehner didn't let politics steal his heart or soul. If want a good book to read that broader than politics, I suggest reading this one right here.

It is the reading of this book that also made me more curious about the 'Ford' family, particulalry the last 'Ford Classic' golf tournemant played in Vail, CO, but instead came upon this video here about the former 1st Lady, another historical figure that most have moved on from and forgotten about, Not the Zone though. By reading Joe Boehner's book, suddenly becoming interesting in the now forgotten, obscure, political structure of the past, one thing always leads to another, and now a few more will see this video and learn things about the past they didn't know, thus learning more about themselves in the 'today'.

About done with this book, 1 or 3 more pages, it's a good bathroom type of book. I need to order another one from Amazon, I think I like biography type books the best, and least like fiction, or fiction novels, I like reading about stuff that's real and that actually happened. The only book I've bought recently and haven't finished is one by Ann Coulter, I just found her writing style to be very repetitive and frankly the topic of her book felt outdated, something about the former President. But may start reading it again until order new book to read.

Homelessness, the good, the bad, and the wonders of it allHomelessness folks, some of us have been there and bounced back, and some of us may be headed that way soon, or in the future, either way, this book is a good guide, written by someone who was homeless, and then bounced back, and now wonders which life was better. It's a good fun read, written in journal narrative form. Check it out on Amazon!

I often wonder what happened to the guy on the cover of this video, and in the book
I took this homeless mans picture myself, years ago, while driving near the airport in Tampa, FL. They just stood out to me, for some reason. Swept into the streets, probably from a good home, is how it always seems to happen.
