Podcasting First off, don't let all this advanced stuff fool you, it all comes down to 'content', do you have something to say or not? And if do, do you have the personality style to 'push' that message, as in 'Voltage'? And with that much more to follow

Music Licensing
Now days, if play music on your podcast, every song you play is 'owned' and artist want to be paid, so they join like 'groups', large music licensing groups, cause there's so many artist, they just all join groups, which will share in future posts, that way they can receive royalties for songs played even on your podcast, but even that's not all black and white, cause depends on if live streaming or not.
And depends on how 'big' and or popular your podcast, I mean if hardly anyone listening to your shows, why spend from 150 to 500 a year on licensing rights?
My advice is this, just wait until show makes waves, cause the minute someone complains about 'copyrighted music being played on your show', than that means your show is making waves, then, and that's when I'd deal with it, but before that, why waste hundreds of dollars on licensing, if hardly anyone that matters is even listening to your show?

Music
Also, cataloged songs, generic songs, to me aren't the best songs to play on your show if want to stand out.
For no one listens or remembers cataloged songs from generic studio artists when they were young.
The reason for sampling songs in your show is to 'touch' people, to bring up old times, memories, and if you're just playing generic music, that reach is limited.
So if do get licensing of music, I'd suggest getting license to play regular like top 40 type songs, in order to make your podcast stand out and not seem like a generic show.
Again, as time allows will share links to such licensing places.

My mistake in the past is I'd go out and buy a brand new airplane, with no passengers booked to fly, metaphorically speaking of course.
Well the same applies to podcasting, often people join podcast sites, are told by site to buy this, buy that, sign up for this, sign up for that, so you end up spending $3-4 hundred or more, and haven't a single listener.
My advice is to 'wait', get stuff as audience grows, but not really before, so you're not left with brand new expensive airplane and no passengers.

But the main thing to success in Podcasting and eventual monetization of such, you have to have 'pulse', passion, voltage, if want to do well People don't tune into your podcast to hear someone who sounds half asleep, OK, they, people, want to be entertained as well as informed. If you do it right, you can actually earn decent income, and give up your day job. Let's take this journey together, stay tuned for more.

Created shows new opening today
All the audio I had from last show, gone, gone with the wind, gone with old crashed computer, darn!, or may have on disk, but new PC doesn't have disc player, so I don't know, I've got to retrieve those old shows some how, spilt beer over last computer about 2 months ago, and it crashed, stupid me.
All that aside, had to go back and prepare new opening, which is like a production within itself cause have to find right song, then create opening monologue and so forth, then edit, make sure sound is acceptable.
Audio sounds different over different speakers and headsets so have to guess on acceptable average.
---------------------------------
This new revived show will be my new fuel in life, cause now with new podcast platform, I can actually get paid if show does well...so that's motivation to me, unlike last platform where never ever got paid, instead I had to pay for air time...well that will only take your enthusiasm so far, so been out of it for about a year.
But radio, broadcasting, is my meant passion, so is writing, so is any medium that allows me to use 'theater' as a means of communication, as a means of stepping out of day to day bland role society only thinks I'm capable of fulfilling, no, I'm capable of fulfilling much more if given the chance or opportunity.
Stay tuned for more updates soon, but have to go back to day job tomorrow, but when off again, it's for sure on.

I'm learning good to have a script
Here's what I've learned, not just now, but long ago, and that is it's good to always have a script, that you can always come back to when 'free style' runs adrift, kind of like a 'place marker'.
Cause without that 'script' to save you, often if go off on some freestyle spontanious rant, once rant is over will forget where you left off.

I'm still learning what works, but this go around do want to try to 'earn' from Podcast, as such I need to pay attention to what I think works vs what doesn't.
Ease of production, is what it's about to me now, and sound quality.
A good mic is a must.
My shows are more like 'productions', rather than just some person speaking into the mic about any one particular issue or cause, although that's not a bad formula either, but in order for show to be fun to 'me', I have to produce it as if a production, a skit, like SNL, or those old Carrel Bernet shows, or variety shows of old.
I think skits are a great way to highlight issues without making it to personal, by mixing humor and satire into 'message'.
And also, can build up own library of 'sounds' and sound effects by recording them separately, labeling and inserting when needed.
But again, shows evolve, I mean look at the first episode of Gilligan's Island vs the middle episodes, vs the last episodes, obviously the show evolved as it progressed, and podcasts do the same, you learn what works and what doesn't, but if to 'picky' show will go no where, cause you'll spend 100 hours editing a 10 minute episode.
So ultimately you have to just push the show out there, and see what happens.
And helps to have a personality, and passion, behind whatever theme you're pushing.

'Keeping it Real', BS
Oh, and this 'keeping it real', BS, here's my thoughts on that.
Years ago, had I not 'kept it real', I'd probably be a millionaire by now.
I was so against allowing adds on anything I did cause I wanted to 'keep it real'...but now that a bit older and wiser, I'm like
"Who the heck was I keeping it real for again?'
Keeping it 'real' for people you don't know?, real for people who'll never call you in your time of need, people who could care less whether you breathe your last breath?
Is that who I was keeping it 'real' for?
Bunk that, not keeping it real for anyone anymore, just keeping it real for myself now.
When I create new podcast, I'll welcome advertisers this time, for sure.

Seems when stuff works right, and properly, it's as if someone just sends a 'code' from the other end to screw it all up, just so whatever, you have to 'buy this or that' to make it work again.
Some of the most evil, vile, people on the planet work in big tech.

One thing for sure, without a good strong show opening, forget about it
A Podcast with a bad opening is like a woman with ugly feet, or hands, you get turned off before you look any further.
Or like a Corvette or Porsche with ugly rims, and so forth.
A good opening theme and monologue is a must to pull new listeners in and brand your show.

I've literally stopped all forward progress on future shows until I get proper opening, opening are everything. Not saying it will be the best, but that's how we remember the Twilight Zone, or Gilligan's Island or the Brady Bunch, is cause shows had such powerful openings, or even the Rush Limbaugh show, and other political talk shows.
But podcast I'm doing not in that nature, but still, must have rememberable opening, or it won't lure folks in.

Sample of decent opening to a show The following is a decent opening to a Podcast show, or any show, even if on the radio. All elements are there, good sound quality, and more. Check it out here on Spreaker... www.spreaker.com/episode/45687204 I go over board to make opening monologues decent, even above and beyond what a lot of paid professionals do, cause one day they'll be the ones I'll be competing with. Paranormal Saturday, is the name of the show.

I have my podcast up on a few I tunes type of places, but made the mistake, at least to me, of applying to have it up on google podcasts.
Why do I don't want it on google podcast?
Cause seems everything google touches, the 'small' up start types get buried and ignore, as in You Tube, you name it, google search..ect, they just seem to crush the small people, and their computer code only favors the sites or songs or podcasts that get the most hits.
I wish I could withdraw my submission, but it's already in.
