To me, this is the ultimate workout gym...an outside, military styled obstical course, designed to work every muscle in your body, designed to help with coordination, timing, and endurance as well. This is how you stay fit...running a course like this several times a day and challenging yourself to do better. Unfortunatly most don't have the room in yard to set up such an elaborate course as such the average person must think of alternative ways to stay fit. Treadmills and inside gyms just don't work for me...I get extremely bored standing in the same spot. Specific bodybuilding equiptment is useful for working specific muscles, but for over all conditioning, nothing beats outside running and activity... It's more natural, and it's what we all did as hobbits, ran around jumping and bouncing off of everything, and it's what adults need to do to stay in youthful shape. If not joints become stiff, ligaments harden, muscles become tight. When muscles and ligaments are all working the right way, supporting the right bones, the body is an amazing thing. Most only realize this when physical mobility begins to diminish do to years of being out of condition. And being 'thin' doesn't mean one is fit and healthy or in condition. You can be thin, and still run out of breath running up flight of stairs if not in condition..and or so thin that you pull muscles or tear ligaments easy do to lack of muscle tone. Lot's more to follow...

I went jogging this morning in the light rain.
It's amazing how quickly you can fall out of shape. The more you exercise, the more energy and stamina you have, it makes the regular day go by easier.
When you stop exercising, you become stiff and slow, and start walking like you have lead feet.
The more you exercise the better...like 3 times a day.
And then other odd weird health issues just seem to start creeping in.
Exercising and less junk food is a recipe for longevity.

Staying fit can be about as fun as ironing a rock...
Once in shape...sessions go much smoother...but while trying to build your shape up...it can seem like torture.
Both cardio and just muscle strength..
But then, if you stick with it, you cross a certain threshold...a threshold where or when you begin to notice a 'change' in your physic and stamina, and even looks...your skin, face, everything.
And that's kind of what pushes me.
Like for instance, I jogged yesterday in the rain...but just do to that one exercise session...I lost weight, and felt much better the next day, lighter.
So I jogged again today, after work, and expect same results tomorrow. Exercising just has a way of flushing out the skin, and making you appear younger than you would if chubby, out of shape, and guzzling down beers.
When I don't work out, I can almost feel muscles contracting...odd aches and pains develop for no reason, injury occurs easier cause muscles aren't holding ligaments together properly and so forth.
I've done this, and been here before...in shape that is. But one thing I notice is in order to really be in shape, you have to exercise above and beyond just daily routine type stuff.
The walking or activity you do at work isn't enough to keep you in shape.
In the wild past, just think how much walking and physical exercise was done on a daily basis just to survive. Now most only walk to and from car, car to store...store back to car, car to front door...
Just being able to walk and breath doesn't mean you're in shape.
Till next time...

Diet is a big part of staying physically fit...
Me personally, I just don't shove a lot of crap down my throat...
I don't eat fast food, and have been drinking natural fruit juice lately. I could still do better though...did not exercise at all over the 3 day weekend, not one single bit..but nore did I swallow a barrel of food.
No pork, no heavy greasy substances, nothing heavy at all. So since I eat light, I don't have to exercise as much.
Plus I've started taking vitamins on top of everything else...why not... Anything to help boost immune system.
I just wish I wasn't going to be forced to get health care, if I don't need it, what a waste of money...

Stairways are one of the best ways to stay fit... I'm not into long distance excercising...I prefer to give your body in 10-20 minutes, what others like to stretch over an hour. And there's no better way to keep in shape than running up and down stairs. Many folks have stairs in their own homes and never even consider this... Many people, particularly those with hardwood floors, or marble, actually have ideal exercise paths all throughout the house or mansion. Your own home could be an obstacle course. All that inside gym stuff is just not for me...nothing gets you in shape better than balancing and having to lift and coordinate your own weight...balance and coordination is a big part of being in shape... Where I stay, nothing is designed for keeping people in shape, the terrain is flat, the parks don't cater to those who value fitness...it's like everything is set up so that people just drive and become overweight slobs, who then need healthcare by age 30... I need to hire a engineer or carpenter to design me the ultimate workout obstacle course...heck, maybe even build a gym and title it 'the obstacle course'...(just dreaming)... Cause traditional gyms just bore me...I like to run and around and scramble, the way you would in nature, when I exercise...

We all take our health for granted until we no longer have it. Health and vitality makes you feel so good, just in and of itself. Falling out of health or shape, can be the pits though...but it happens... A lot of people just aren't in shape...like people on the streets, thin, skinny, doesn't mean ones in shape. Being a think person on crack or heroin or do to some other addiction, doesn't mean one is in shape. You can tell whether or not someone is in shape by their over all counternance...this includes mental, spiritual and physical shape. When you're in shape and whole, you just put out a different energy...a confident energy, confident, but kind. You're just more robust throughout the whole entire day...like a restless rabbit... Like most...I've been both in top tip shape, and out of shape...and there's no comparison. The only way one can feel good about being out of shape is if on drugs, alcohol, or depressed and just not caring. It's much more fun being in shape, springing around like a rabbit, rather than a zombie with led feet. We've all seen celebrity's go through it to...one minute their fat, the next minute thin as a pipe, just to get fat again. It seems even your mind gets tired more easily when your bodies out of shape. Even going out to retrieve something from vehicle can seem like a chore, when not in shape. Shopping, doing anything, can seem like a chore, a mental chore, when not in shape. I've never been obese, but I've been out of shape plenty of times. All it takes is one bad habit here, one bad habit there...and before you know it 3 months later you're walking like a wooden doll. Cheers to staying in shape.

Just got done jogging, and there was nothing fun about it...nothing. (expecially when legs feel like they're made of led) I jogged yesterday...not long distance or anything...just short semi-sprints on a field. Basically the kind of stuff an athlete would do before they even began their game. Just goes to show how much more in shape athletes are than the common person. If you're in football, soccer, or basket ball shape, than you're good. Heck even track shape...then you're good...(oh ye and boxing shape) Of all sports, track use to make me the most nervous, cause it was such an induvisual endeavor.. If you failed or lost...it was just you, there was no one else to absorb the blame or loss with. Anyways... Getting in shape is no fun...expecially when you have no real incentive other than 'general health'...sure that's important, but not as exciting as say if you're getting in shape for the Olympics or some other competition. When you exercise just for self, there is no one in the stands rooting you on...no cheers...nothing, just the sound of heart pounding. The pay off usually comes weeks later...when you start noticing clothes fitting more loose, pants, shorts, sagging do to weight loss... Or when at the end of work day, you notice you still have plenty of energy, and are ready to go out and do something. Or even when you receive a misc compliment from someone. So there is a pay off to keeping in shape, even if it's just for yourself. Also random doctor visits can be fun when you're in shape... Cause it's like you get to show off your physic...no flab, perfect legs, clean feet, perfect tummy area. Everything in the right spot... Your body resembles the one on the poster hanging on the wall...in that your body could be used as a model. So being in shape does have it's rewards, even if not doing so for athletics.

I jogged a bit today...after waking up feeling like a log. I felt heavy...even though I'm actually lighter than a was a few days ago. I had no motivation today to exercise at all...none, zero...then I had a few suds...ate, and concked out on couch... But when I awoke...college football was on the radio...they were playing back scores and highlights, and there was something about hearing the replays, hearing them talk about the athletics of those athletes, just made me want to get up, out, and go jog. It's like in my mind, I was competing with those college athletes...got jelious, and that's what motivated me to go exercise...that competitive nature. And maybe that's what many lack, who aren't apart of any organized sports club or team, is that competition that spurns the competitive nature in most. When you work out alone, you really have nothing to measure your progress against. Anyways...I got up, out, and jogged a bit, played around on the field...and I do see progress. If I uploaded pic, some would wonder 'Well gee, what are they complaining about'... Many people can seem fit on the surface, but underneath muscles and heart and lungs can be out of condition. You know you're in athletic shape when you feel 'light'...'springy'...as if springs are underneath your feet. When you're in shape, you just walk like you're on air...run up stairs, find yourself jumping over things, just for the fun of it...cause your energy level is higher, muscles in condition, joints, cartilage is healthy and responsive. But when you find yourself walking like Frankenstein...than you need some work. Anyways...got some more exercising to do...as punishment for laying around all last night and this morning...and eating to much...

Being fit is a lifestyle, it's not something you do once a day for a few minutes.... I've learned this over the years and still am... In other words you can't go exercise for 20-30 minutes, then come home and eat a pound cake, chips, pizza and guzzle it all down with beer... It don't work that way... You can't expect gains if you exercise for 20-30 minutes a day, and sloth around for the other 23 1/2 hours... Being fit is a complete and total lifestyle which involves diet and activity. The hardest part is training self to eat less... Cause after you work out, you're hungry, and feel justified in eating anything. But if you do that, anything positive gained from working out, will be lost. That's the hardest part for me, I'll exercise, then feel like since I exercised, I can indulge a bit in food and other things... So I raid the fridge... And eat back all the calories I just burned. So ye, there's definitely habits I have to change if I want to optimize the effect of workouts. Until next time, be fit...and I'll chime in again soon...

This is proof that you can be fit, and still be fat, heavy, chubby... I'm willing to bet this football player is in better (or was) cardio shape than anyone reading this...yet look at his gut...look at the flab. So obviously this demonstrates that working out doesn't mean your going to loose weight.. I mean this football player, during NFL season, works out constantly, yet is still fat... Reason? Diet....they probably eat a ton of food before and after workout and games...and thus what isn't converted to muscles is stored as fat. Many of us make this same mistake...we work out for 20-30 minutes a day, and then sleep and eat for the next 23 hours...and then wonder why we see no results. It's hard...believe me I know it's hard, to discipline yourself, put yourself through discomfort. With athletes it's different, they have millions of dollars at stake, to motivate them. If they can't perform, they get replaced. With non athletes...sometimes a health scare can provide same motivation...but why let it get to that point. I read, and hear, about so many people, both males and females, who are borderline diabetics, while in early to mid 30's or early to mid 40's... I needle every day for the rest of your life...that doesn't sound fun at all... Eat right and exercise more...

Not sure what the future will bring...but I do no being in shape can only help, and not harm.
People are more likely to hire you when you're healthy, if they see their not bringing on a person with visible future health issues related to obesity or a bad posture.
Once exercising becomes a habit, you want to do it every day, no matter what... Athletes train hours for months, for one fight, or event...hours a day...
So again, don't expect super human results if only exercising once a day for 20-30 minutes, then shoving pies down thy throat for the rest of the time...
Fitness has to be a complete cycle of discipline...and that's much easier said than done...but it starts with one workout at a time...

The above is a bmx bike track... Designed for bikes like this one pictured here. But as one who's trying to get back into condition...I can intelligently say or suggest, bmx bike tracks would also make ideal jogging tracks, for people who want all around strength, conditioning and endurance training. Flat is wack... Ok...I'll say it again...flat is wack! No!! I did not say 'AFLACK'...I said flat is wack.... Running on a flat surface is wack... Not everyone enjoys jogging 2-10 miles a day...many don't have the time, and just find it boring. Where as a jogging track built like a bmx track would allow better over all conditioning of whole body, in much less a time. Nothing in nature is totally flat...in nature we're always climbing, walking up different elevations, inclines, mud, sad, climbing trees, cliffs... Everything gets worked... But todays workout of tracks are far to sanitized and flat...what is flat, a flat surface?...I'll tell you what it is...flat is wack! I wish I had the funding to create an running track similar to a bmx track...where running two, three, four lapse would be equivalent to jogging 10 miles on a flat surface. The wealthy aren't smart...they simply have money to fund their ideas... If I had the funds, resources, to fund such a track...it would make the news...and I'd be hailed as being 'innovative'... Well I'm already innovative, as are a lot of common folks...we simply don't ever have the funding to implement our ideas...so we're forced to watch University students, with millions of dollars of funding, come up with, borrow, steal our ideas...thus they get the credit, and we don't exist. I write ideas on here anyways, in the case I do get funding, I can come back here and remember the wonderful Ideas I had or prove to others I came up with it first...like a time stamp of sorts... Anyways just remember flat tracks are wack!

Today I gave in and used a treadmill...kind of had to...didn't want to... I'm so use to jogging, running, outside on the grass, that doing so on a treadmill seemed un appealing to me...like being in a doctors clinic or something. Here's what I discovered today...after weeks of conditioning on grass field, with deep grass and soft soil...the treadmill felt like a breeze. I could run longer on the treadmill without getting tired compared to grass field...I do a few lapse around grass field and feel shot...cause the grass and ground make your legs work harder, feel heavier. I've also been playing athletics...to me if you want to be in athletic shape, than you have to play sports...throw a ball, throw a football, play basketball, Frisbee, swim ect.... If you play sports, you work muscles you don't while on a treadmill...and you get in much better over all shape. A treadmill is basically good for just burning down calories...for people obscessed with calories. But for over all conditioning of the body...nothing beats running out in the open. And I envy people who live in mountainous areas, with trails, different elevated terrain...cause that's how you get your workout on...not simply running on a flat hard surface. When in shape you look younger, feel better, skin begins to glow again. Even if you drink or smoke...excercising slows down the process...until you don't want to drink or smoke as much anymore. Cause one will have to give...and as you get in better shape...and see the results, your sox appeal to self and others will start taking precedent over smoking or heavy drinking. Your posture will become better, you'll start walking with a bounce, like you have life in you again...and people do take notice. When you're in shape...even your ankle muscles and tendens work better, get that spring back. As muscles get stronger, they hold your body together better...take more pressure off legaments and joints, and tendens.. Strong back muscles takes pressure off of spine...keeps discs properly seperated... Scronny people with no muscles, have nothing to keep bones from grinding. Anyways...I had a decent workout...better than I thought. Now time to relax a bit.

It's Thanksgiving day...and how am I going to start the day? By doing a bit of exercising, that's how. Personal gains in fitness can be lost so fast over a 1 week holiday period...expecially if drinking sets in. Fitness is like constantly scooping water out of a sinking ship...the older you get, the more water you must scoop out, or you'll sink... I mean as soon as you stop, boat fills with water and sinks. Unhealthy ways are like the water that keeps filling the boat...if you don't counter those ways, the boat, or body, will sink. To stay afloat, healthy...must stay active always, and can't ride on past fitness. This time of the year it's very easy to put off working out. Working out can seem about as fun as paying taxes, but is nessisary for continued health, and goes a long way in fighting off depression. Anyways, time to go workout out for a bit.

On this Thanksgiving day...my thankfulness has to lean more towards my health, more than anything else. Could my physical health and stamina be better?...heck ye... Do I still have certain habits that are contrary to a healthy mind and body?...heck ye... But, inspite of all of that, I'm still glad I can get up and jog, play a few sports, and run around... Still glad I can ride a bike, go canoeing...(if I had a canoe), lift weights, bowl, play tennis ect. Do push ups, sit ups (even though I need to do way more sit ups)...basic stuff...but glad I can still do them. I'm glad I became health conscious early on, as to offset any disease or illnesses that may or could of set in, and not let go. I'm glad I take vitamins, and learned about the cancer fighting properties of berries. Berries help fight off cancer cells...juice...juice made at home in a blender is also a very wonderful alternative to store bought juice flavored syrup. I'm glad I don't have to eat fast food anymore...glad I can cook my own food. I'm thankful I still have vision and hearing...and can walk. And I'm still probably only 70% of what I could be if I were more disciplined. And there are people in way better shape than me...like magazine cover shape...abs and all...ripped abs... People who join gyms, fitness clubs, fitness freaks basically. I'm not a fitness freak like you see on magazine covers...I'd have to really take it up a notch to get there. But those people will thank themselves years from now, that they stayed in such great shape...ate right and stayed away from excessive drinking and or smoking. I'm not saying I can't get there...but that kind of fitness usually occurs in an environment of like minded people...where you have support, and end up competing with each other. I don't have such a circle of support...no one to call up and say 'hey, lets go workout'... But you know...maybe that's my own fault...and maybe I should go find it. Part 2 of post... There was a time when I could of really let myself go... There was a time when I allowed myself to become real thin...I though thin was better...I was wrong. You need muscle to help support your bones, joints, and ligaments...which in turn take pressure off of nerves. Having firm, strong, muscles alleviates a lot of health issues...nerve pain...back pain. And I'm surprised more people don't realize this. Strong firm muscles keep joins from rubbing together, keeps nerves in proper place...very rarely do you hear people who workout, and have firm muscles, complain of back pain. Before I started working out again...I could feel pain in my knees...if I had to bend below a certain level...like a grinding nerve pain...but once I started working out again, jogging, doing weightless squats, all that went away...cause knee muscles became firm again. Neck muscles to...the stronger neck muscles are, the less neck pain you'll have. Muscles are good, very good...not saying you have to have body builder type muscles, but this idea that being skinny, scronny, is a good thing, is false. Muscles help hold your body together properly, without them, you sag, and more pressure is put on joints. In turn joints wear out quicker...and once in your mid to late 40's, 50's you'll be wishing years later you had kept your muscle tone up...and not in hospital needing knee replaced ect. Health is so important, and it's the one thing we're in total control of, regardless of wealth or social status. You can be dead broke, and still be in tip top shape...that's something we, you, control, and don't need a bank loan for. Happy T-day.
