Unless you own your own ISBN code, you'll have no way of tracking sales of your book, or where it's being sold Trust me, if really want to take charge of your self book publishing endeavor, then you need to purchase your own unique ISBN code which tracks the sale of your book worldwide and through all retailers, cause if you don't have your own (basically bar code assigned to your book), and use the publishers, than basically you're trusting them to report all sales to you. DON"T DO THAT! Buy your own ISBN, and you'll have way more peace of mind, and can possible earn income for the rest of your life with the sales of your book or books. But if use publishers ISBN code, well then, they're the ones that get sales notifications, and it's up to them whether or not to report it to you. Don't trust others to do that, there's to many scoundrels even in the book publishing industry, is what I'm beginning to learn. I mean at least crooks on the street are honest about their intent, whereas those you're suppose to trust are not.

Also, (continued from above)
If publisher doesn't collect your 'how to pay you' info, beware, as in checking account ect, so they can send you your royalties, and even tax info.
Usually if they ask for your tax info, as in make you fill out a W-9 form, ect, that means they're serious, and seriously plan on paying you royalties for your book, if they do not, and instead promise to cut you a check, I'd run from such a place, cause you could make 1 million sales (ye right), and they may only send you a check for 2 dollars, cause unless you own the ISBN number you're trusting them to report all the sales your book makes to you.
And well, people can be scoundrels, even in the publishing business.

This Author gives more reasons why you should get your own ISBNwww.shawnpbrobinson.com/reasons-to-get-your-own-isbn/?msclhobbit=32cb4927d15311ecb53f1bd56ef8ec46 And it makes sense, for whomever owns the ISBN is the publisher
And to me, if not the actually publisher, there's so many ways scoundrels in the industry can exploit you, the independent Auther. The article explains it better than I can.

Everyone thinks scoundrels are only found on the street level, evening news showing smash and grabs and all, usually minority males, younger ones.
But no, scoundrels exist on all levels of society, and most are imbedded into positions of trust, and get over on people by ripping them off, or not disclosing all you should know. Billions a year are stolen from people collectively using this method, the imbed 'white collar' method of thievery. Agents, Publishers, ect, rip off so many people, would make what street level smash and grab types seem docile, money wise anyways.

I'm a bit pissed cause just spent the last 3 months probablly getting ripped off by a publisher all cause I didn't get my own ISBN number.
All sales reports go to the owner of that number, and if you don't own your own ISBN, they don't have to tell you anything, and you then have to trust them to report sales to you, that's BS, but a lot of new independent Authors don't realize this stuff, and so get exploited by the system, told to pay for more 'promos'.
If you don't own your own ISBN number than you're promoting you own book just so that others can get rich off of your book, not you.

I need to go ahead and get a book of mine republished, using my own ISBN number, but of course it's not free, or reformatted I should say.
It's just I feel I got burned in the past, and don't feel like getting burned again. Sure services are quick to take your money, but does it ever pay off, is the question.

It just seems all I do is pay out money, get other people rich, pay other peoples bills by always utilizing their services, but there's never a return, it's always one way.
It just gets old after a while, soon all promises of this or that just seem mute.

Not certain, but a publisher may have ripped me off, again I'm not certain, and really don't want to speculate, but something doesn't add up, not sure why they keep resisting my efforts to have them unpublish the book.
Why the F, would they care so much about a book that supposedly is not making any sales??
Think about that.
If book was really a bomb, why the F would they care whether I ask them to unpublish it or not?
--------------------------------------
I like being nice, I really do.
But I'm not normal if I find I've been exploited, and I'll leave it at that.

This is actually one of those times I'm glad I'm not drinking, or I'd might call a place, email a place, and say things that for sure I'd regret tomorrow. I feel upset right now, but not drunk type of upset, there's a difference in how anger is managed when drinking vs not drinking.

I'll say this though, I'm learning not everyone who lives in a nice big house or Mansion got there money from being honest with others.
Don't ever for a minute think that people who are rich are angels. Many are no different and just as conniving and evil as their street counterparts, only their methods are different.

To many of these YouTube Algerythm chose videos, the people in them just chatter on and on and on, instead of getting to the point, people want info, not glam, and self absorption, for crying out loud
I cannot listen to these videos where the person in them just goes on and on and on about nothing.
Just get to the freagin point please.
And there's really no need to author of video to even be in the video, but these people on YT or so self absorbed with themselves, I don't have time to waste watching you, as if you're using the camcorder as a mirror to admire yourself in.
But it's videos like these that YT algerythms put to the front, and so other, much better and to the point videos get hidden, and no way to find unless have direct link.

Right now, about to do some proof reading on latest pre-production book I'm pretty much done with.
I have to work my regular day job tomorrow, so I want to send it in for formatting until next week.
Proofreading your book is boring as all can be, but necessary..
Here's the deal, most new Authors aren't going to get rich from their book sales, but here's the deal with me.
Have stuff out there anyways, that way in the future, say you make the headlines, ect, now you have a passive money maker, cause people seem to buy in droves once in the headlines.
Cause us normal nobody authors, we're competing with media giants, most of them geeks, but they're connected, is why every other guest on Hannity or Levin, or Mark Davis, or any other talk radio or TV show, what are they doing, they're pushing a book, only they have a large advantage, they have a humongous platform.
I mean if 6 million people hear about your book, just the odds say that even if 1 percent buys the book, do the math..
Anyways..I'm just trudging along...I need to leave behind something, even when I'm gone.
relatives who ignored me while alive, at least when I'm gone, my great nephews, nieces, ect, will know that their Uncle was always busy writing.

I change my mind about Amazon, as in trying to publish a book there. Unless already famous, you'll do better just going to a smaller publisher, where you have closer contact with customers service instead of the lost in space Kindle bull crap.

What I hate about kindle books, is they're just to big to care.
And if you change your phone number, like fools, they use two step verification, without bothering to ask you if that's what you want, and so like utter fools, they auto send verification code to number you no longer have, and that's where the hell begins, trying to get someone to respond, trying to get out of the customer service loop, ect, it can be exhausting.
Amazon Kindle is just to big to care.
I learned quick that publishing in general is a big racket, where only a few come out on top, just like anything else.
