You notice those who never play fair, or never played fair, to get where they are, are always the ones, once on top, lecturing everyone else on how to play fair...what a racket.

The publishing world is like that bar in the Star Wars movie, filled with all sorts of shady characters and servicesAnd you, as the new author, are stepped all over, exploited, even lied to at times by those who simply want your money. And unless already an acclaimed writer/author, the money you pay them for their services, you more than likely will never earn that money back.I mean it's one thing to already be famous, or a part of a University system, to where when you write a book it's pitched and advertised, and promoted by big players in the industry, talk radio, the news, NPR, ect. But if you're some small time, unknown self publishing author, who's not connected, good luck. Some services offer packages between 2 gran or 5 gran...never do that unless that's chump change to you. Then other services, designed for first time unconnected Authors, after way better deals, like ' E Book it'...but good luck ever seeing any profits, and instead expect to get barraged with never ending promo offers to 'get you book more out there'.. .all they do is feed off of your income, while your book earns none, and if it does, good luck them telling you about it. Then there's Amazon...which is the most straightforward way for a unknown author to get their book out there. Here's the deal, after a while the money stops mattering to you, as you realize very few authors can actually make a living out of writing, but what does begin to matter to you is 'bragging rights' or 'legacy'.. It's just nice to know you have a book, that others can find on Amazon. A print on demand type of book, and that way in the future, should you become famous, well, now your book will mean something to others, your fans, and the curious, and then maybe sales will explode. Book can sit unbought for years, then one day you make the headlines, get your 5 minutes of fame, and now that forgotten book of your may, could, might, become a best seller, or at least earn you enough to buy a new car...to be continued.

Well screw it, it wasn't that bad, undoing that annoying as hell 2 step verification BS with KDL, Amazon. You just have to send in gov issued Id, then they email you in a few days so you can disable that crap and have access to your account again.
I change my number at least 1-2 a year, so when they send code, to get into your account to old number, well, you know the frustration.
But hey, Amazon or KDP is the easiest route to go if a new writer and don't wanna pay outlandish fees to other publishing firms, even 'do it yourself' ones still squeeze a lot of money out of you, that most will never earn back. At least with Amazon, even if you don't make a lot of sales, you book is up there for the world to see and have that print on demand feature.
I just want another book published for legacy reasons, bragging reasons, even if I don't sell 1 copy, at least when I tell people I got books published, they can go to amazon books and see it.

That two step verification process went through, or at least I got an email, where they say it's been removed. So here in a bit, I'll try to log in again so I can get my 3rd book underway, and then start on a 4th one.

Book writing can be so very boring at times, especially if when finally published, they hardly sell any copies at all
I'm bored to death writing my next book, since my first 3 really haven't netted me anything. The only Authors who get noticed are like legacy Authors, or ones who appear on talk radio, on TV, and get like a million view blast and promotion from radio host or TV host...but for us regular unknown Authors of books, well, forget about it, good luck getting your book out there.
And then, of course, you have all these services that will promote your book, and you end up paying more for your book to get promoted than what the book earns in sales...just feel good stuff. Some of these services charge as much as 3000 dollars...do you think you'll ever get that back in sales? Not as some obscure first time book publisher you won't...
Oh well, life goes on, and so does my next book, if I ever finish it.
