hobbit n Play, this song takes me back to Job Corps
This song takes me back to 'Job Corps'...way back...on the mall, when all the different groups would interact, small town, big city, different gangs, young, old, geeks, nerdy and gangsters...all on one mall...but the gangsters always dominated or else, and at the time this song dominated...
But up until now I never new it was 'hobbit N Play' who sung this song, in my memory I always figured it was a much more hard core rap group...oh well.
Memories...youth...wish both could last forever, but they don't, except here in the Zone....

Shadow Boxing
One of the deepest best rap songs ever, from the 90's era...
Only for the thinking though...those who dream, have, or had revolutionary thoughts inside.
This song is so underappreciated....
Artist like this rare now days...most stupid rappers these days only rap about romance BS...
Kissing up to urban 'hoes', instead of dreaming big about empires.

If I ruled the world
'If I ruled the world', by Kurtis Blow, one of the original Rap G's...for real.
When rap was in it's infancy, Kurtis Blow was clearing the way for all of todays rappers.
Very old school rap here, may even bring tears to some who are older, the memories, snow, sledding, wanting to be cool when younger, wanting to be fresh and relevant.
Kurtis Blow definitely belongs here in the Zones version of 'Rap Hall of Fame' artists and songs.

Back when rap was a bit more playful...and by the way, this is the group that gave Tupac Shakur his start.

I use to hate Scarface and his music, or rap, until I heard this song a few years ago, then suddenly new found respect for him
I use to hate Scarface and his music until I viewed this video with song, then developed whole new respect for him, cause video is so 'real'...what I see daily...
Scarface beyond prime now, but in his day, he and Pac were close...now I see why.
This song is now 'classic', yet still totally relevant to wants going on in the streets 'now'.
It's basically a sad urban poem.

EPMD 'So Wat you Saying?'
Total classic, I mean back in the day this song was such a trend setter....
So only fair it ends up in the Twylight Zones Hall of fame hip hop classic vault.

Flavor in your Ear remix featuring LL Cool J
This one is 'hot'...I love this melody and beat, the original Craig Mack video only has around 600,000 views but this one featuring LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes and a few others who were hot in the day, has nearly 9 million, 600 thousands views...wow!.
Also Biggie Smalls in this version, he's the first rapper, so there's style and taste in here for everyone, just choose your rapper I guess.
To me, LL Cool J, his presence, is what gave this video 'gravitas'...and P Diddy's, I suppose...
This is how hip hop sounded back in the day, very lyrical, and full of melody and beats.

A quick time out in videos, in that it amazes me how some rappers have decades of longevity, become brand names, are able to embed selves into the social conscious, where as other rappers, the majority of rappers, tend to fade out or off, after just one hit single....I wonder why?
And same for other genres of music as well, I mean we've all heard the term 'One hit wonder', so this term doesn't just apply to rappers.
Some artist are just able to adopt and evolve with society, changing times, and stay relevant, where as other rappers, musicians, seem to only shine for one quick moment, than after that moment disappear back into obscurity...

DMX 'It's all Good'...1998
1998, that's 19 years ago, but never heard this song until moments ago, definitely a classic.
But warning, graphic lyrics, so don't listen if sensitive.
But it's the rhythm and flow, is why posted, cause takes back to that whole 90's rap era when rhythm and flow mattered, it was just a different era of rap back then...
Funny how you often start learning about rappers, artists, years after they've fallen off of or out of 'prime'...

Anthrax
One of the first, heavy metal bands to incorporate 'rap' into a song of theirs.
The 'Beastie Boy's' the first..but Anthrax the first to do so in genre outside of hip hop.
What a brave band, to do this...as such, Anthrax forever has place in hip hop classic section...notice lead singer wearing a 'Public Enemy' shirt.
I love daring and different, regardless of era done in...

Mass Appeal One of my favorite rap songs of all times..so lucky to find it this evening...took years to hunt down...
Hard to explain, was in Philly when this song came out...rarely played on radio...heard once or twice and instantly in love...live, learn and explore, this is the 'zone'...
Added
Gang Starr, is like the lost rapper that never existed, all of their works ignored, by 'lists', and so forth, it's as if they never existed...but now they're in 'Zone' hall of fame, where they belong...

Get Money
Don't worry, this is the clean radio version, personally, I always prefer clean versions of rap than dirty versions. But Lil Kim, the song I really want, is the one where she spills her heart out to the world at a biggie 'dis', after she found out he was cheating on her...I love that version, but just to full of curse words for me to be able to air or load on here.
To me, cursing and foul language just add nothing to message.
Anyways, yet another rap song from the hey day of rap, when guys would rap over smooth beautiful melody...until industry got hi jacked by whom ever's.
